Footplate Fire and Drive Experience £225 2011 Dates announced Passenger Train Experiences: 2nd April / 7th May / 4th June / 2nd July / 6th August / 3rd September / 8th October **New for 2011** Freight Train Experiences: 16th April / 14th May / 18th June / 23rd July / 20th August / 17th September / 29th October There is nothing quite like the sound, smell and power of a steam locomotive in full cry! Thanks to our steeply graded line, 1 in 36 at its steepest, you can work our engines in the manner they were designed. For the man or women who has everything, this is an ideal experience package! You don’t need to be a steam buff to get an enormous sense of achievement and satisfaction from getting ones hands dirty on the footplate. Your experience begins at 9.30am at Caverswall Road Station with a warm welcome from your instructor, a safety briefing, information about the line and signalling. You are then shown to the footplate where full instructions on the driving controls, firing techniques and other locomotive operating requirements are given. Then, taking turns with the other 3 participants, you will become the driver and fireman! The freight experience is your chance to Drive, Fire and Shunt the Foxfield Railway's Heritage Coal Train. A unique experience taking holfa coal train on a colliery railway...
