When the UK woke to the news of the 80% energy price increase this morning, volunteers at Foxfield turned their attention to thinking how they could help the local community. Christmas is a special time of year and should be inclusive for everyone, therefore it was felt the railway needed to take quick action to support those who have supported Foxfield year after year.

People extended their arms and helped the railway through Covid, now Foxfield is extending its arms to help others who need it more this winter.  Even though the railway is a charity, volunteers have been able to put together a package which totals around £10,000 to support our local community.

Therefore, Foxfield are pleased to announce they will be doing 3 things:

  1. All existing present stock from last year’s Santa Trains will be donated to charities so that they can hand them out on the run up to Christmas – anyone who knows the Santa train will know how fantastic these gifts are! There are around 1,000 gifts to giveaway so Foxfield will be working with charities to make sure they find their way to the right homes.
  • A selection of North Pole Express family tickets will be donated to a charity who can pass on to families who are struggling the most.
  • Tickets prices have been reduced by 25% for the first weekend of the North Pole Express trains. These are already available to book! *

North Pole Express event manager, Richard Barnett said: “Everyone at Foxfield wants to ensure they do their bit to help our local community and urge charities to contact the railway to see how Foxfield can support those most in need and spread a little bit of festive cheer.”

The North Pole Express runs at the Foxfield Railway from the 26th November through until 24th December bringing festive cheer to thousands of visitors each year. Children will receive a present from Santa while travelling on a steam train through the countryside. Entertainment will be provided throughout along with drinks and snacks for everyone. Ticket prices start at £49.00 for a table of 4 and can be booked via foxfieldrailway.co.uk.
